The Chance Glass Works Heritage Trust Video & Workshop Report

The Chance Glass Works Heritage Trust Video & Workshop Report

The Chance Glass Works Heritage Trust (CGWHT) video and workshop event, held on Wednesday 29th March in Sandwell Council House, Oldbury, has been declared a tremendous success.

Over 140 people attended the presentation, with more than 80 staying afterwards to participate in facilitator-led workshops.

The day commenced with an overview of the Trust’s work by Chairman Mark Davies with contributions from fellow Trustees Graham Fisher and Afzal Hussain. A keynote contribution was offered by Council Leader, Cllr Steve Eling, who praised efforts to restore the Chance site and called on the community to support an initiative that could have a hugely positive bearing across the region and beyond.

Following the presentation of the new video the remaining delegates were divided into workshops, with comments and observations on the proposals sought in open discussion. CGWHT continues to affirm its belief that community engagement is key to the success of the venture and all comments arising from the session are currently being evaluated.

The 6-minute video is an evocative guide from the historical significance of the former works through to a positive endorsement of the Trust’s proposals to revitalise the site by Toby Chance, a direct descendant of the founding fathers and now Patron of CGWHT. It received positive comments on the day and has since been receiving favourable feedback from all quarters.
